Unfortunately, in my experience, politics plays a large part. Earlier it was because liberals tend to view money, and especially investment, as dirty words
I think it's because access was far more limited historically. More recently, when Trump came out "in favor" of it, a couple of friends (I tend towards lefty circles) immediately became far more hostile to Bitcoin. The turn was quite shocking.

Also the environmental issue... it's nigh impossible to persuade a liberal that Bitcoin isn't going to boil the planet, and in fact it will help renewable energy and mitigate tons of methane.
