The Bitcoiner doctors I'm aware of seem to be more on Twitter still; Dr. Ahmad Ammous and Dr. Jack Kruse.
Kruse was a neurosurgeon so this is probably out of his element, though I do somewhat expect the light therapy side of things does still have an impact.
I know Dr. Ammous, like his brother Saifedean, is big on carnivore but not sure that'd be his first step coming from a crisis level. He does tend to STRONGLY warn against things like statins, so may be more useful there finding alternatives to the poisons most doctors would be considering.
I of course am not a doctor. But do swear by the power of walking regularly. Doesn't need to be far, or vigorous. But it's not gonna drop anything rapidly either. In general diet advice I've seen suggests anything that will increase Nitric Oxide (NO) in the blood. There are some supplements but making suggestions seems irresonsible at this point -- better to consult someone qualified who can consider interactions.

It's a good model. In my exploration things get hairy at the edges. Like, yea, you get to do what you want with your property...but if you're the first to get to a continent and claim the whole thing for yourself, that seems to extort those who arrive whose labor you extract, or who you otherwise withhold resources from despite not really doing anything to earn them for yourself other than see them. Meanwhile, if they keep having children you have to support off of your property, that surely seems to be an initiation of force as well. You could of course define the acquisition of otherwise unowned property as needing to somehow cultivate or improve it, but this isn't sufficient for all cases either -- sometimes it seems perfectly reasonable to own land as a buffer.
At the end of the day libertarianism works as a general trend to minimize violence, but violence is an inherent part of the formation of property, and it is unavoidable: either you use violence to establish property as private, or you use violence to establish it as collective.
And this isn't really an argument against it. More just an acknowledgement that separating man from violence cannot be done.

Sadly I am realizing that most restaurants I go to actually don't turn this feature on, and instead just process cards at the table. Presumably to feel more "personable."
Still, some do print the QR codes on the bill, and presumably we wouldn't need a TON for a proof of concept.

Ahh looks like they have a 500 THB limit with the intention of NOT turning this into a siphon to remove Bitcoin from the country to foreigners.
That actually makes a lot of sense. Guess I'll just hope this turns into something we copy over here in the US. Toasttab (a restaurant tablet POS) sure uses QR codes for payment in a lot of restaurants and the time around when those are paid sure does seem to match up with the time expectations here, given that there is always going to be more of a delay than paying the code yourself rather than waiting for someone online to do it.

Not my first post of the day, but the last one didn't quite feel GM enough.
Curious about the CLARITY Act -- why are stablecoins such a threat to banks while money market funds (and the cash management brokerage accounts that provide checkwriting, debit cards, bank wires, and all of the other banking services) aren't? Did they just learn long ago that they couldn't fight them, but that they're not looking to lose more ground? Or is there something deeper at play here?
I suppose some of that may boil down to repo markets. Money market funds don't just hold all of their shares in short term treasuries -- they lend a portion of them in repo markets, effectively allowing a good chunk of what they have to still be used by the banking system. I assume stablecoins can't do this given how they've been defined.
I don't have too much wrapped up in the matter from the perspective of CrYpTo, but I am a bit more interested in it from a "wresting control of the government and money from the banks" angle. It does, however, occur to me that stablecoins can't do what banks can, which is create NEW money to lend to the treasury at the treasury auctions. They can sap existing bank deposits out of the system and into treasuries, but unless the government actually balances the budget, the system needs someone to actually issue new credit which can be treated as money good in order to actually keep the machine going.
So stablecoins can't actually kill banking. But perhaps, they could bring discipline to it.
Really just musing on this one this morning -- no major conclusions. Just some Saturday morning food for thought.

Betar given a fine which was deferred if no further incidents arise, after repeated violence, including a stabbing, against Palestinian solidarity activists. Turns out the reason these incidents aren't being prosecuted is that the "Feds" have stepped in, and it falls to the Southern District of New York.
So, almost certainly where this case is going to die. After all, unlike those particularly dangerous folks that write code that some people have misused, these people have only been responsible for assaults with deadly weapons, rather than creating privacy software.
This fucking court needs to go. It may just be a legend, but we need the sort of leadership Alfred exercised when hanging the corrupt judges in England. If I were the orange guy I think I'd be pardoning everyone this court has found guilty for a certain period of time on mere principle.

It is worth bearing in mind that stablecoins can only buy treasuries with money they have. Unlike banks, they're not authorized to expand their balance sheet (aka lend money into existence on a fractional reserve basis).
The government is motivated to keep both formats around. Banks are necessary to expand the money supply, and stablecoins are necessary to send it outside of the US to limit the impact on consumer prices. If they were to tear down banks they'd be looking at failed auctions before long, because that many dollars don't exist.
The only way out of this bind is to defease the debt with something like Bitcoin on their balance sheet that grows faster than the interest on the debt. I say something like only because theoretically it is possible. In practice, Bitcoin is their only real option without selling off just about all of the nation's resources to international bankers.

That's a reasonable stance. I'm happy to theorize about anarchy but wouldn't say I'm married to it in ways I have been before.
More interested in sovereignty as a concept. Which can work both from an anarchist framework, or a hierarchical one, insofar as it is better to be mindful of the duties of a sovereign, as well as the tradeoffs one makes in trading that sovereignty for some other benefits.
Voluntary servitude ain't so bad -- but exploring the meaning of voluntary can be a fruitful exercise.

Utopian ideas about anarchism are quaint but something that any serious person has to put down.
It's worth remembering just how much in common with totalitarian statist systems a lot of the left anarchist space has. Arguably, more in common than it does with anarchocapitalism, given the whole 'property is theft' premise, and Bakunin's anarchosyndicalism (which feels a bit too close to National Syndicalism, aka Fascism).
On the ancap side of things, individual sovereignty reigns supreme. But sovereigns don't 'do whatever they want.' Sovereigns act in a world of conflicting forces, including enemies who will take any chance to undermine and take what belongs to them. Anarchy can't promise freedom from that reality. It can only promise freedom to interface with that reality in an unmediated fashion, relying, where necessary, upon allies, rather than lords.
It's very much an out of the frying pan, into the fire move. But while a frying pan will distribute heat across its whole surface, fires, as anyone who has cooked over them directly, do have warmer and cooler spots, and depending upon the structure of the fuel, may even provide shelter from the immediate destructive forces of the flame.

I mean, the obvious answer is, build tools that make use of nostr that people want to use. Microblogging is merely one of an indefinitely large number of use cases. Tons of people use nostr with Bitchat and don't even realize it. diVine is bringing people in as well -- who largely just think they're engaging in a nostalgic video streaming platform.
Now, whether or not we REALLY want this is another matter. I wouldn't mind some of the big macro heads I do still go to twitter for coming here just to make my life easier, but I don't hate how cozy it is here. Not that we'll ever HAVE to engage with those folks anyway, but there's a degree of responsiveness we get from people with the size of Nostr now. I've had direct conversations with multiple CEO's on here, and it wasn't even odd that I got response. That's a LOT less common when your userbase grows by a few orders of magnitude.
More engagement, I can get behind. More users? Eh...quality over quantity.

Does anyone know what steps are being taken to mitigate the time machine threat to Bitcoin?
I'm not sure why we're worried so much about quantum when it's so obviously a non issue. But a time machine threat could be a serious issue -- someone could go back with an ASIC to 2010 and change the whole adoption process, or bleed the Bitcoin fountain dry.
I think rather than wasting our time on silly things like covenants and the 2138 bug, we should devote all of our energy to addressing the fork(s) necessary to make Bitcoin time machine safe. To protect the future -- and past -- of Bitcoin.

Yea, rigid dogma and orthodoxy aren't something that's ever jived well with me. Gotten much more okay with the concepts of religion over the last few decades but can't help but feel that sometimes the systems people turn to for liberation get used to just re-create a prison for them.
Sometimes it's their own doing, and there's the urge to suggest a defined lineage, as in catholicism, but sometimes of course it's the hierarchy causing the problems, so there doesn't seem to be a silver bullet.
The Taoist approach of recognizing the futility of overly systematizing the ineffable feels most appropriate, though I do half expect that in a culture where it is the norm it's also been somehow used as a weird dogmatic system of control.
Ever since seeing the Tamil genocide in Sri Lanka in 2009 by buddhists of all people I've gotten past the delusion that certain religions are immune to such brutality.

Most atheists I've spoken with use the term such that theists say there is a god, atheists don't say there is a god.
Giving overlap with most (all?) agnostics.
The other, so called 'hard' atheism being seen as obviously requiring just as much devout belief as the most dogmatic of religions.
Those are out there but in my experience it's often coming less from what I think of as 'serious' and more almost nihilistic, dare I say 'edge lord' stance. Or at least one that hasn't examined itself to recognize just how much belief they exhibit, not unlike a child's unquestioning belief the toothfairy IS real.
Where it becomes often easy to start pulling apart is when you ask such a person to define god in the first place. You'll often find a caricature standing in for he concept.

To get almost Heideggarian for a moment, I think when we speak of consciousness in ourselves we are speaking of a different phenomenon to consciousness in anything else, be it our mothers or our toasters, because we simply have no direct experience of it in the same fashion, nor can we ever, because we are not those things.
Consciousness outside ourselves seems to be a compound idea born of a few experienced phenomena. The observed thing responds to stimuli from the outside world, but in so doing, it differs from we've seen other things do -- that is, immediate physical reaction, like a pool ball. In addition, those things we call conscious also show some degree of memory, and self preservation. This can perhaps most easily be observed when you see them do something that causes them harm or pain, and then see them avoid doing that thing again -- though pleasure seeking is the other side and no less evidential. Thirdly, they engage in SOME degree of reciprocity. I think this is why humans are so fond of other mammals more than reptiles, and are more likely to say a squirrel is concious than a snake. But, even reptiles, when faced with harm, will strike back, and when approached calmly, will often respond in kind, unless hungry or otherwise responding to stimuli we may not directly observe at the time.
AI thus far very clearly fails on the self interest front, and, largely reciprocity. The reciprocity it seems to show fails insofar as it is like billiards physics -- visibly pre-programmed.
I'm probably missing some key parts here, but at some point, I do think we get to a situation where for how we actually ever use the term consciousness-outside-ourselves , AI could conceivably get there. It's frankly still a very long way off, and that long way may well be subject to Zeno's paradox. Being able to fool some people though is closer, and for SOME people has already arrived, however temporarily.

I'm big on mud/wtr (homemade copycat) and getting an electrolyte blend to cover the first half of the day with magnesium glycinate, potassium chloride, calcium lactate, and pink Himalayan salt that I mix with a lemonade mix and creatine powder to wash down a b-complex (orange pill 😂). NAC Ethyl Ester lately too.
Also catch some early morning sun.
Not a bad time to throw in kettlebell swings or sun salutations, or meditate for a few minutes. Whatever your schedule allows. Me? I catch some news podcasts and shower and am working before sunrise..

The idea that protesters ever all agree with each other is just never true.
It's like suggesting that the libertarians agree with the communists who agree with the DNC aligned unions at antiwar protests.
To say nothing of state or foreign provocateurs.
So no, I couldn't explain why some protesters are burning banks without knowing more about those particular protesters.

They're not uprising for anyone else. Almost all real uprisings that have actual force aren't for someone else -- those usually just cause a little chaos and make headlines to shape propaganda.
Real uprisings are almost universally to address one's OWN situation. Iran's collapsing economy being a perfect motivator to get people rising up in more than symbolic fashion.
And sure, I'm sure aided by some intelligence agencies.

I'm not sure what the ties are but I'dd be shocked if the raid in Venezuela didn't destabilize funding in Iran. The oil production in Venezuela has diminished heavily due to lack of maintenance -- I suspect Iran had been fencing oil through Venezuela to evade sanctions, and finds itself in much more of a bind with that market shut off.

So much is tied up in the opposition that was engineered in the Sikes Picot arrangement and general British approach to setting enemies against each other to weaken both. It's hard to see how we escape the situation without people seeing past how contrived it is and refusing to fight each other.
I do think global order is shifting to a point where the powers propping up these arrangements no longer want to fund them, and if anything may be just moving to let one side beat the other to spin down the whole arrangement. Puts an end to the forever conflicts but hardly in a justified manner. Though it's best to remember the universe is rarely fair.
Best move for everyone is focus more on building antifragility and steering clear of conflicts fueled by groupthink.

I agree at least on praxis. Orthodoxy and I have never particularly gotten along.
Though the dogma seems to be a source of drag and frankly ossification. Putting new wine in an old wineskin.
Not really a criticism of you so much as my analysis of why it's slow progress.
Stones and books are dead. Christ isn't, and nor is His message.
Thankfully there do seem to be some green shoots.

People just like to chant 'democracy good.'
There are worries about dictatoraships, totally valid.
The thing is, when it's FOSS, the downsides are almost nil -- if the dictator is abusive, everyone walks away. Unlike meatspace, there's a good reaction function to keep them in check.
Democracy, meanwhile, has always never been anything other than the second worst form of government, only to tyranny. It's inefficient, and results in the sort of design by committee crap we saw with Debian's sysvinit implementation that made moving to systemd seem remotely palatable in the first place (their scripts were a MESS).
And perhaps it's less democracy per se and more collectivism in this case. Either way, it makes for a problematic system. Executive functions work best when you have a capable and unimpeded executive whose hands are untied. Be it in individual life, in a software project, or a government.

I've accumulated a stupid amount of sats just playing games on ZBD. And I don't actually even mean playing most of them. I mean letting them run while my phone is charging as I turned off screen timeout while charging.
I get it if you don't want to load your phone with ad laden shitty games...but it's literally been a couple hundred bucks over the last year. Heck almost worth it to buy a dedicated low end zbd phone.

Less than 10 sats is less than a penny. They're not even valuable enough to mint anymore. And they've often for years been free at most point of sale systems in the take-a-penny bin because people don't want them.
If he was insisting on a penny from 1500 (~$5 today) it'd be one thing. Single digit zaps are something of a head scratcher. They're technically worth more than a like, but it's a wonder the network is even willing to route them.

It gets a bad rap from people who either A) don't read the docs, or B) don't know about sbopkg and slackbuilds.org (or other non-official repos).
Slackpkg, the package manager, uses some basic bash scripts to manage packages and importantly does NOT impose 'dependencies.' If you have the libraries for the software to run, you're good. If not, you'll see the compile time or runtime error, and can correct it. There are optional queuefiles that sbopkg can use that will get you the known lists of prerequisite software too, but nothing refuses to install because some package maintainer said so.
Use a .deb or .rpm system long enough and you'll perhaps see why this can matter in the most frustrating ways.
The one downside though is that Slackware is primarily designed with desktops in mind. You CAN install more minimal systems for running servers but this can turn into a bit more of a headache resolving some of the main system libraries depending on what you're running. I usually look to a BSD for such instances rather than put the work in.
It's worth noting Slackware is a benevolent dictatorship, rather than a community project, and it shows in its organization. Longest running distro in existence and our biggest gripe is that Volkerding isn't immortal.
