As someone living in a European country with practically 0 bitcoin acceptance, I'm overly enthusiastic for these "circular economies" pockets. But I know reality is between the "you can pay everywhere in bitcoin" of bitcoin zealots and the "it's nothing" of the naysayers (I went to El Salvador in '24 to experience this).
Bitcoin adoption is a secondary parallel structure even within the best "circular economies" projects.

What I'd like to know how common is that e.g. a farmer's market seller pays another seller in bitcoin (from what he received). It that's nonexistent or minimal, the "circular" is a long shot away...

According to Saylor self custody is worth less than 1% of bitcoin's value proposition -- that's the important point for me, as I strongly disagree!
Without self custody can be coerced and controlled like everything else.
He's a bitcoiner who doesn't consider self custody important, and he's saying that he agrees "99%" with bitcoiners who do, and should not focus on little differences. Self custody is a huge one, bro!
He made some points, but he pretends not to understand that:
- there is a difference between a regular company buying bitcoin from its operational treasury vs. a "treasury" company buying bitcoin with debt raised from others
- there are many entities that can buy bitcoin directly
- self custody is important

Labels on individual fruits are such a nuisance shitcoin things: hard to remove, non-degradable plastic, you-dont-wanna-know-whats-in-the-glue. If you compost, and don't remove, they end up in the soil.
It has a cost, but it doesn't add any value to me. Maybe it helps the supermarket cashier, to do the job seconds faster; for the sake of superefficient consumerism. (Note: I buy fruits&vegetables in a small grocery, only very rarely in supermarket.)

There is too much cheering for state-owned bitcoin among bitcoiners.
It would be much more important that states allow and encourage their people to stack bitcoin.
Bitcoin, when adopted by a state, is not possible to inflate and makes Cantillon-style machinations more difficult. But only if it replaces fiat, plus states have other tricks to cheat on the people. Misuse and stealing of public funds is a real danger, no matter if it's fiat or bitcoin.
If a state stacks bitcoin, but stops its people from doing so, that's a massive red flag.
It doesn't really matter if Venezuela's bitcoin stack (if they have one) ends up in the hands of Venezuelan or US government; either way is worse than in the hands of individuals.

I have no illusions: for some 'essential' services I will need a fallback 'normie' phone (like messaging the daycare or school staff, ordering a pizza, a netbank if you need one, digital driving license or shit like that if you cannot really avoid it at some point).
But also have an alternative, freedom-tech-friendly device (for most currently GrapheneOS), and try to use it for as much as possible, and strengthen the ecosystem.

My dream is an open mobile platform. I know there were several attempts in the past, that did not get from 0 to even 0.01. Mostly because of lack of market / interest, as most people are fine with the googleapple hegemony.
My dream is that at some point it could grow out of the DIY hardware signer -- specter, seedsigner -- and home miner -- bitaxe -- ecosystem.
A de-facto standard, with several manufacturers, open platform, interchangable software, and full package providers. It will not be on par with latest mobile hardware, and that should not be the goal, but a general purpose mobile computer and communications platform.

I use multi-account-containers extension (in Firefox), to be able to be logged in with different users in different tabs (in centralized services).
I discovered just today that the nos2x-fox extension cannot have different logged in users in different tabs, unfortunately. So I can't have the same nostr app open in two tabs with two users at the same time :(

I like that in the Amethyst+Amber setup Amethyst knows about all identities configured, and can switch inside the app.
In browser extension setup I first have to switch the user in the signer, and then go to the app (and reload, sometimes logout&login).
I like when after a user switch a web app shows the new name with the profile pic of the previous user :D

Very good summary of this topic!
Some thoughts:
I'm a bit disappointed, that after so many years there are _very_ few block-filter-based wallets - Wasabi and Ginger, but not much else. Particularly disappointing the lack of block-filter options on mobiles, esp. as desktop's relevance diminishes over the years. (Edit: maybe Breeze was such a mobile wallet.)
I'm very bullish on Utreexo in the long term, but realistically it will take time. In order to work properly, infrastructure changes are needed, which takes time (The project is in the making for a few years now, but the BIP is quite recent and not yet final. It will go maintream only once B Core will support it.)
Electrum server is the the-facto standard with wallets these days, mainly due to convenience.
As you correctly note, running your own private node+Electrum is a good option for the privacy-minded, and fortunately most wallets allow using your own server, and it is not that difficult to do, as home node projects support it.
My biggest pain point here is that it is not possible to have the private node+Electrum with a pruned node. Logically it could be possible, but due to sotware/historical reason it is not. This means that you need a 2TB fast storage for this setup, which is the biggest barrier of entry.
You mention 'Electrum Personal Server', but I'm not aware of an alive, known specific project, to me this term mostly means a personal bitcoin node and electrum server combo.
I would like to see improvements on all fronts:
- More compact-block-based wallets, completely Electrum-free
- More practical 'personal electrum server' solutions (still using Electrum interface to connect to the wallets)
- Maturing of Utreexo, improved network support and implementation, still using Electrum interface to the wallets, or even natively Utreexo wallets.
The Electrum interface will likely will live with us for long as a legacy glue, which is not ideal, but is fine when used in the personal server setting.
A few days ago I had the idea of a personal electrum server based on compact block filter: a server-style project with modest (but non-negligable) resource and initial setup time requirements, that works as a compact block node, downloads and maintains the compact block filters, and exposes an Electrum inteface. It could scan for new addresses on first use, handling a limited number of addresses (few k). Such a server could replace a fullnode+electrum combo, with much less disk (<200MB vs 1+TB) and initialization time (1hr vs. few days). I call it 'Electrino', and would love if I or someone else had the time to work on this :)
We have to push for more private solutions, which is only possible with solutions that are convenient as well. That's not impossible, but there's a lot of work to do!

Yes, you see it right. If you have a Nostr account with a LN wallet, and a home miner, it is very easy to set up. I try to keep the barrier low!

Well, indirecly.
I've learnt about the #hashpool project of @nprofile…22jg , and I saw two avenues:
1. build a new pool from scratch, starting with small hashrates (=very long times for finding a block), and bridge the long times with a local market for hash-ehash (custodial but blinded, option to early exit via market)
2. a proxy pool, based on Ocean, with periodic payouts from Ocean. But then I realized that in this case there is not really a need for a hash market, nor for ecash in fact.
I chose to pursue 2, and pivoted my focus to a proxy pool, which is old-style custodial, but only for a day (and small user amounts). I realized there is a lot of synergy with Nostr, so I focus on that now with Zappool.
For home miners, zapping away is a perfect and fun usecase for the the small daily payouts. Miner ID being a Nostr ID also opens up some possibilites -- payout to LN address of the npub, payout as zap, donation to someone else's npub, payout as nutzap, nostr login to your bitaxe, etc.
In the long term I keep in mind hashpool as something interesting for miner decentralization. For now I want to push the Nostr-bitaxe synergy, and the proxy pool concept (I'm not aware of a working proxy pool).

A solo mining pool is basically stateless (it just provides a work based on a template, and hasta la vista).
A proxy pool, and a regular pool, has a lot of state: it has to remember all unpaid work shares, rewards, payments, etc.
So a proxy pool implementation is more complex than a solo pool implementation.

Very nice!
I also have plans to do something like this for a while.
It makes sense to put this out so that people can grab it and print and distribute themselves (a simple web page on an easy-to-remember URL or github), and/or to license it with CCY.
It also makes sense to have color and BW versions (some people don't have color printer and color version may look bad on BW).
My plan is a 3-folded A4 format flyer, but this is also nice.
I haven't checked the contents in detail, but I will.
