My first 3D printer was an Ender 3 Pro, and it was perfect and terrible at the same time.
Getting it to print reliably after a couple of modifications was honestly a miserable affair. And it was still very temperamental even when I knew what I was doing.
I ended up just buying a Prusa so I could just get things printed, and I love it.
So the bad of the Ender is that it hardly worked. The good was that it taught me all the pieces parts, how to troubleshoot, leveling, etc. I went from beginner to pro in a few months. If I only ever had the Prusa, I'm certain I wouldn't know near as much about printers.

🧡 This is exactly why I started my Substack called Bitcoin Does Good (originally Bitcoin Is For Everyone). People constantly argue about ideologies in the community, for better or worse, and defend Bitciin with religious zeal.
If I'm honest, I do the same thing... but I think it's important to document the ways it is working in practice *today*, by people who perhaps don't care as much about the ideals, but find that it just solves problems for them. This is important because it's how most adoption happens. If a shopkeeper doesn't particularly care about freedom, Bitcoin As Freedom Coin will fall on deaf ears. Bring down fees from 3% to 1% though? That's a new Bitcoiner.

You can pretty much join any world, just select which looks cool from a list and you'll get teleported into a public instance of that world, where there's usually 5-20 people. It can take a minute to find a good crowd (i.e. no kids), but the overall culture is very welcoming and chill.
There are campfires, aquariums, movies, or you can just drift into the cosmos listening to a 4 foot tall anime cat perform live music for everyone.

They wouldn't be able to use BTC at all in Iran right now. They have blocked all internet, even internally, so they will not be able to perform any transactions because they can't find or talk to any other computers on the Bitcoin network.
This is definitely not ideal, but all of digital banking has the exact same problem. Regular banks even moreso, because banking infrastructure is centralized, easier to cut off. With BTC it's far more likely they would be able to route around the "blockade".
This is really the only situation where gold shines. In every other situation, Bitcoin's features win by a country mile: global settlement, instant,.verifiable, harder supply cap, etc..

This is exactly the problem and limitation of AI. The Broca's area of the brain deals with speaking and writing. Today's LLMs are little more than a digital Broca's area (and Wernicke area for the speech / typing recognition).
Until we start developing artificial versions of the other areas (prefrontal cortex for good decision making, etc) all we are getting is text prediction with no good judgment. But because it looks SO much like a normal person's speech patterns, it's easy to think there's a whole brain behind it.

The whole argument is just a verbal / tribal difference.
There's the social construct + expression of a woman, and the genetic definition. Nobody on the left believes your genes change when you transition. The question becomes "What makes a real man or real woman? Genes or gender expression?". Both sides are right in their own way, and which definition they use is mostly chosen by their team. It's a total non-issue that both teams have dug into and purposefully misunderstand the other team.
Gender and sexuality development is an incredibly complex process in the brain where all sorts of things can go "different" in all sorts of places. Trying to fit all that into man / woman / gay / straight, and then arguing about it with everyone having their own definitions, is crazy.
There are any number of real difficult questions we have to answer, like what do we do about sports and changing rooms? I support trans folks fully, but I also support women not being made to look at a penis in their changing room. But "can men become women" is an impossible question to answer without hours of preamble.

In my experience, yes. Imagine you built a little Lego house when you were 5 years old, and kept adding to it every year. Maybe when you're 20, you start having a system of where you put each block and color. But all the blocks before that will be messy and random colors... without very careful examination and reflection, you probabky don't even know what's going on down there.
I think the only way to ensure you know who you really are, is you have to tear it down and start from scratch. Every brick the right color, aligned with the whole.
I've had to do this about 3 times in my life, most notably when I left the cult I was raised in. Sucks every time, but now I know exactly who I am, and I am proud to be me.

Yes I think we agree 😂. That's why I mentioned the demand side, it's the same thing you are talking but on a more generalized scale.
Price is always supply and demand. In the moment a single one of these sales occurs, there is a set number of people wanting to buy. In a higher market cap, demand is higher because, averaged out, there is more likely to be buying at that moment. What matters to the price most is how the trade changes the proportion of supply to demand in that moment (and of course how the resulting change in price goes on to affect future demand, etc).

I'm an amateur econ at best, but everything you said is generally true. I usually consider the extremes then tween them. If market cap is $100, somebody selling $10 would flood the system with supply, reducing price. With a $100T market cap, selling $10 wouldn't make a dent.
At these scales, trading and price act more like pressure and temperature, rather than individual trades moving the market. A tire with already-high pressure will take a lot more air to raise the pressure than a tire with low pressure.

It seems to me like you are implying that not shooting a civilian in the head 3 times - two of them from the side of her vehicle when in zero danger - is an "impossible standard". I think it's a pretty basic standard, along with not calling citizens "fucking bitch" after you killed them. Along with allowing medics to provide aid to the person you just shot. And not leaving the scene immediately with your firearm. Along with the entire Federal government not dragging her name through the mud and calling her a terrorist before an investigation even began.

Unfortunately, in my experience, politics plays a large part. Earlier it was because liberals tend to view money, and especially investment, as dirty words
I think it's because access was far more limited historically. More recently, when Trump came out "in favor" of it, a couple of friends (I tend towards lefty circles) immediately became far more hostile to Bitcoin. The turn was quite shocking.
Also the environmental issue... it's nigh impossible to persuade a liberal that Bitcoin isn't going to boil the planet, and in fact it will help renewable energy and mitigate tons of methane.

That video is misleading, whether intentionally or not. It is a cellphone video, for one, and he is holding it about a foot in front of him (standard cellphone video position). When the car comes at him, it looks like it hits him because it goes *under* where he is holding the phone.
You can see him standing 12 inches away and leaning forwards during the first and second shots in the picture attached. Also, if he was really hit, he probably would have dropped his phone and / or at least limped away, but neither happened.
It was an optical illusion. When you take a slightly closer look and see how the trick was done, you can call it out.

I'm sorry that happened, sounds like a rough start to the day. 🫂
That lady would have been my mother, always picking something or other up off the road. There will always be (a majority of) folks who just don't have time for the nameless bag of fur in the street, and it sucks to see their callousness... but there are also all of the My Mums in the world who will help and love them one last time. And as Mr. Rogers said: when you're feeling sad, look for the helpers.
Also I've thought a lot about your question over the years, and I tend to agree... I always think of the moment I saw our cat Lucy lying in the side of the street. Such an awful feeling, and I hate that anyone else might experience the loss of a family member in that way.
(That said, my buddy hit a wild rabbit with me in the car once 20 years ago and I can still hear it. 😬)

Biden and the Dems can go fuck themselves too, but they didn't illegally kidnap a foreign ruler and openly steal their oil, there weren't soccer moms being executed for doing a 3 point turn and then having their name dragged through the mud by the Federal government. The economy was better, if still failing. There was nobody actively redacting the names of powerful pedophiles from the Epstein files. We were not threatening Greenland or Mexico with military action.
So to answer your question: yes. 100%.

We're stuck in a mental model centered around those wanting to see everything from everybody we follow, which results in all those connections. I think we need to explore other ways of using relays. I want the option to select one relay for my Bitcoin stuff, one for my human rights group, and "visit" each one. One connection to one relay... it's fine if I miss posts to other relays. I have no interest in crochet, so I don't need to make a connection and download posts from nostr.crochet just because one person I'm following posted there one time.

I try to be quite optimistic, but... It looks like we're heading that way. Things have really escalated over the past few weeks, and I suspect Trump is turning up the temperature so he can provoke violence to justify his favorite thing, killing demonstrators. When unredacted Epstein docs drop (and they will), and the people finally get tired of the economic charade, there will be lots of angry people on both sides.
Trump is getting desperate and he is doing all he can to distract and divide... And it appears to be working.
